Walking in the Spirit by submitting our will to God

The will is used to express desire, choice, willingness, consent.

Surrendering our will is about trusting God. Jesus surrendered His will to the Father in Gethsemane because He trusted Him.

Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4:7-8b

How do we know where we are unless we are tested? When we are in the wine press (Gethsemane), what’s inside us will come out.

Most people learn by reason of practice, not by observing other people’s mistakes.

Sometimes God even tells us what choice to make and we still don’t make the right choice.

See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; Deut 30:15

So choose life in order that may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; Deut 30:19b,20a

And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you hesitate between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people did not answer him a word. 1 Kings 18:21

Sometimes we have to do the right thing just because it is the right thing to do.

But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, “Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ And he answered and said, ‘I will, sir’; and he did not go. “And he came to the second and said the same thing. But he answered and said, ‘I will not’; yet afterward regretted it and went.

“Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The latter.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that tax-gatherers and harlots will get into the kingdom of God before you.”

A double-minded person is unstable in all their ways. James 1:8

Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8b

We are to believe with our hearts. Our mind, will, and emotions are to align with and follow our hearts.
